Match Overview

This past weekend, the Lady Raptors played in the West Competitive Region that was comprised of 2 top teams from the West, Glendale and Austin and 2 from the Midwest Chicago Northshore and Detroit.

On an unusually cold and snowy weekend for this time of year, the Raptors took on Detroit. With the Raptors taking some time to find their hands and Detroit being a tough team, the Raptors had to work hard for the 13-5 win. Bethany Humprey put in 2 tries and Karla Leapold slotted a pentaly goal to give the Raptors the win.

On Sunday, the Raptors faced Austin in the finals to determine the seedings for nationals in Boston in 2 weeks. The score was 0-0 at half, but the Raptors came out hard in the second half and put 4 tries (Kathryn Pavao, Nina Safine, 2 by Claire Gregorich) on the board that 2 were converted by Leapold.

"The team pulled together and wanted these wins this weekend. I'm proud of how they never gave up and kept a positive attitude," coach Wendy Cook said.
